DV last day!

Greetings friends!

Today marks the last day tht DV is open for the season! I was scheduled to work but didn't get a class so I am currently waiting to see if I get a class or if I get to go home!

Life had been crazy...we are going to move out of our current place at the end of April...after we go home and visit family and friends in MICHIGAN! Once we get back we are going to go and dog sit for two months and then we will be looking for a place to call "home"..however we will start looking before we end our dog siting stint.

I was offered a summer job at DV, so that is pretty exciting. Pete is always learning at his job...and we were able to do some skiing together. I will post some pictures as well! I hope everyone is doing well and if you are in the yoop, we hope to see you soon!

Monday, monday

Hello! Sorry for a delay on these posts. Pete and I have both been working a lot ...and the last thing either one of us wants to do when we get home is sit on a computer.

Pete has been really enjoying his work so far. The branch is a little short staffed so he has been working long hours...but that is fine!

Deer valley is in it's busy "spring break" season, so I have had a lot of kids come though the children's program.

The other day Pete and I went to a co-worker/former yoopers house. She actually is in charge of all of the children's programs at DV! It was nice to hang out with some one else from Gods country.

Hope all is well with everyone around the country! We are looking to come home for a visit sometime late spring or early summer.

Please come visit us! You are all more than welcome too! :)

Wednesday

Hello all!

Pete started his job on Monday! Yay! :) he is doin training for at least three weeks so there is not to much going on with his job at the moment...but he does like it so far. He was so excited for work on Monday he forgot his wallet and phone at home!

Sarah has been working a lot. It is presidents "week" out west. I know most people think of presidents "weekend", but a lot of schools have the whole week and call it "winter break"...do not worry, they still have a spring break during Easter. Sarah has been able to work in both child classes and has had some private lessons as well. She has been able to meet some really cool people during this time is well. She really hopes that they come back next year.

Sarah has the option to work at DV this summer, but she is currently looking at other options that the area might have with relation to her degree.

Pete has Friday and Sunday off and Sarah has Saturday off...of course this is how things work right? Hope you all are having a great February....of course it's almost over now...have a good night!

Trip to Salt Lake City

Hello! Yesterday we took a trip to SLC. Pete had to go to the bank that was downtown SLC to get finger printed. We took lots of pictures of the mountains and some pictures of the ever famous "in and out burger"...

Update

Greetings friends!

We hope that everyone is having a great start to 2014! Sarah and Pete have been busy with all sorts of stuff. Sarah is working at the min. 5 days a week at DV. Sarah is really enjoying her job...it is nice that she has the chance to work with different age groups, including some adults. The next busy season for Sarah will be Presidents week/end. It will be almost as crazy as Christmas, is what she is told...so she will be working a lot coming up....

Pete got some exciting news in January... he got a job offer! He actually had a couple of different opportunities, but in the end he decided to accept a full-time banker position with US Bank. The job is located in Heber City, so lucky Pete has about a 1.5 mile commute to work. Pete starts work in a couple of weeks and is very excited to start his career in the banking industry.

Utah has gotten some snow recently, so that has been nice. Other than that the weather has been sunny most days with highs anywhere between 30-40 degrees. It sure is different being able to ski while it is snowing and still have the sun shinning....this would RARELY happen in Houghton.

We have been dragging our feet posting on the blog, but now that we have some concrete plans in the area (for now) we will be doing a better job of keeping everyone up to date.

Have a wonderful rest of your Monday. :)

Auld Lang Syne

Greetings! Again, we'd like to apologize for not updating the blog.

Karin and Pete explored the surrounding area by going to Provo and Orem.  We took a short little cruise around the campus of Brigham Young University.  Instead of having coffee shops, they have hot chocolate shops.  Interesting, but to each their own I suppose. On the way back to Heber City, we checked out a roadside park.  We saw a few people hiking, ice climbing, and even fishing.  Also on the way back, we took another detour and explored Sundance in hopes of meeting Robert Redford.  Not surprisingly we had no such luck.  Even still, riding up the mountain and back down was very scenic.  Sundance looks like a fun hill to ski.  There is also a state park at the top of the mountain road.  The rest of New Year's Eve was spent preparing for 2014.  Karin made lots of tasty appetizers, yum!  We were all tired, so we only made it until about 10:30PM MST.  By then it was 2014 in Michigan so we were fine with calling it a night so early.

Originally Karin was supposed to fly back to Michigan on New Year's, but forecasts of bad weather in Chicago cancelled her flight.  Karin and Pete took advantage of the extra day and went for a hike at the Deer Creek State Park.  It was a bright, sunny day and the scenery was beautiful.  It was a great way to start the New Year.  Unfortunately, Sarah had to work so she was unable to join them.

On the second, Sarah had work again.  Pete dropped Karin off at th airport but stayed in Salt Lake City to make sure Karkn was able to fly out.  He enjoyed browsing the Patagonia outlet. Karin was able to fly out of SLC to Chicago via standby status. Her luck continued and made it back to CMX on the late flight.

Thanks again for reading!  Happy New Year!
