Auld Lang Syne

Greetings! Again, we'd like to apologize for not updating the blog.

Karin and Pete explored the surrounding area by going to Provo and Orem.  We took a short little cruise around the campus of Brigham Young University.  Instead of having coffee shops, they have hot chocolate shops.  Interesting, but to each their own I suppose. On the way back to Heber City, we checked out a roadside park.  We saw a few people hiking, ice climbing, and even fishing.  Also on the way back, we took another detour and explored Sundance in hopes of meeting Robert Redford.  Not surprisingly we had no such luck.  Even still, riding up the mountain and back down was very scenic.  Sundance looks like a fun hill to ski.  There is also a state park at the top of the mountain road.  The rest of New Year's Eve was spent preparing for 2014.  Karin made lots of tasty appetizers, yum!  We were all tired, so we only made it until about 10:30PM MST.  By then it was 2014 in Michigan so we were fine with calling it a night so early.

Originally Karin was supposed to fly back to Michigan on New Year's, but forecasts of bad weather in Chicago cancelled her flight.  Karin and Pete took advantage of the extra day and went for a hike at the Deer Creek State Park.  It was a bright, sunny day and the scenery was beautiful.  It was a great way to start the New Year.  Unfortunately, Sarah had to work so she was unable to join them.

On the second, Sarah had work again.  Pete dropped Karin off at th airport but stayed in Salt Lake City to make sure Karkn was able to fly out.  He enjoyed browsing the Patagonia outlet. Karin was able to fly out of SLC to Chicago via standby status. Her luck continued and made it back to CMX on the late flight.

Thanks again for reading!  Happy New Year!
